Tuxedo, the side product of hip-hop producer Jake One and singer-songwriter Mayer Hawthorne, is bringing together electro, funk, soul, and disco, into a lavish and magical musical cornucopia. The duo has been putting out singles since 2014, and has finally released their self-titled EP this month, just in time for spring to sprang. Tuxedo’s nu-disco/funk sound is one that has been attained before (Classixx, Shook, Penguin Prison) but Jake One’s over the top funked out bass lines, Hawthorne’s handsome crooning, and the group’s commitment to traditional pop song structure have them bringing something fresh to the game. Tuxedo includes can’t miss singles “Number One” and “Do It” as well as laid back slow jams “Two Wrongs” and “Get U Home” and the rockin’ instrumental “Tuxedo Groove.” Have a listen below.
