Time to Pop

These guys are awesome.  Based out of Melbourne, Total Giovanni is part of the booming dance scene in Australia that has already given us acts such Bag Raiders, Van She, and Client Liaison, to name a few.  Total Giovanni describes their sound as “Heartbreak House” and “Shamanic Disco” and I don’t think they could be any more spot on.  The catch is they’ve only dropped two tracks thus far, both coming in late 2014.  Their first release “Human Animal” was released in October and is definitely more “Shamanic Disco” than it is “Heartbreak House.”  Kicking off with a just a bass line and a cowbell, “Human Animal” slowly builds with some guitar and eventually some David Byrne esque talk-singing from lead singer Jingle Bellows all before the breakdown at the chorus.

Total Giovanni’s most recent release “Can’t Control My Love” is on the “Heartbreak House” side of things.  Melancholy and less dancey than its’ predecessor, “Can’t Control My Love” is a song made for kicking it with bae after saving her from some neighborhood bullies (see video below).
