Creating self-proclaimed “rooftop” music, Scooter Island provides the perfect low key beats that combine percussion, guitar and synths with cool vibe-y lyrics that take you away to a lush hip-hop paradise. Based out of New York, Scooter Island is the brainchild of Matt FX Feldman, who also happens to be the music supervisor for Broad City.
His most recent release “#NOTYOURS” was featured on February 4th episode of Broad City and features the Brooklyn rapper/goddess Junglepussy and is a feminist anthem to the MAX. If there ever was a song to so perfectly match the show’s aesthetic, this would be it. When you listen, you just want to say “eff yeah” and roll around in a pink jeep in some urban sprawl blasting it out ya speakers. Have a listen.
Also worth a play is his track “WAVY (WHAT U GOTTA DO)” featuring Taro and Synead. A little less dance-y and a little more hip-hop, this track smacks you in the face with seksiness.
Overall, Scooter Island has incredible potential and is already blasting off with support from the very loyal Broad City fanbase. We can’t wait to see what the rest of 2015 has in store for this project.
